Awareness basics for shift teams
This workshop is for everyone interested in working awareness shifts. We hold regular free workshops for those who want to join awaGraz and potentially take shifts at events we support. In addition, the workshop is available for a donation (details on request) for people who mainly want to attend the workshop and later work within other awareness structures.
The workshop is divided into two parts:
- In Part 1, we develop basic terms and concepts and then focus on awareness work and awareness teams.
- In Part 2, we go deeper into awareness work and discuss various scenarios together.
If we currently have a workshop scheduled that is still open to registrations, you will find it in our calendar.
Sensitivity to Discrimination
In this workshop, participants actively engage with different forms of discrimination and discuss how to deal with them. You will also develop preventive approaches to avoid discrimination as much as possible and reflect on processes for addressing and working through cases of discrimination. The workshop is well suited for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of discrimination and work toward changing the status quo. It is also suitable as a team workshop for initiatives.
Awareness 101 for Spaces & Event Organizers
In this workshop, you—as an organizing initiative or venue—take part in a crash course on the core principles of discrimination sensitivity and awareness work. Afterwards, you will have a concrete plan for how to proceed in order to implement sustainable awareness concepts within your structure, and your group will be trained to work together with awareness teams. In addition, the workshop aims to foster a more sensitive and mindful way of interacting overall. Based on our experience, this workshop is especially well suited for entire project teams who want to develop further together and recognize that effective awareness work requires engagement with the topic across the whole initiative. We also strongly recommend this workshop to all event organizers who request awareness support from awaGraz.
