awaGraz is a non-profit organization founded in 2023, dedicated to awareness work in Graz. Our stance is shaped by an active engagement with the fact that exclusion, assaults, boundary violations, and (sexualized) violence are part of everyday reality. We refuse to accept this and aim to collectively carry our values and approaches into the wider community.
Our core team consists of more than 10 people who all contribute on a purely voluntary basis in various areas. In addition, awaGraz already has over 50 further members who, among other things, have taken part in the Awareness basics for shift teams workshop and, depending on their availability, take on awareness shifts at events supported by awaGraz.
We aim to embody internally the values we represent publicly. The core team operates through participatory, grassroots democratic structures, with collective decision-making in plenums. We also seek to engage with one another in a discrimination-aware manner and never stop questioning our power dynamics and privileges.
